This role involves extensive coordination, planning, and oversight, acting as the central hub connecting the client, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and the on-site construction team. The CPM is the one who transforms a set of blueprints and a budget into a tangible, completed structure.
Requirements:
Education
Most employers, especially for large or complex projects, require candidates to hold a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. Preferred areas of study include:
Construction Management
Civil Engineering
Architecture or Architectural Engineering
Building Science or a related discipline
3 to 7 years of relevant experience in the construction industry. This experience should include:
Project Management Track Record: Proven success in delivering projects on time and within budget.
Site Management: Prior experience in roles like Project Engineer or Site Superintendent, demonstrating hands-on knowledge of construction methods and operations.
